COACHES CORNER October 2011-
Greetings to all of you and welcome to another season of Little Cyclones Hockey.
Before we get into some details about this season I first want to look back and remember some fallen family members.
As we begin this season we do so playing in memory of Amy Rogers (wife of assistant coach Marc Rogers) and Quinn Boylston(brother of Orion and Payton Boylston) whom we lost this past year in tragic circumstances. There contributions to our hockey family and to all those who new them will never be forgotten and we play this year with them in our hearts and in our minds.
There will be a memorial bench and tree for Amy outside of the Ice Arena, and this Saturday Ocotber 29th at our home opener we will honor Quinn in a pregame ceremony as we retire his number 20 and present his family with a plaque that will reside in the rink. On behalf of our team, the Blueline Club and Ames Minor Hockey we miss you both, and may you rest in peace.
As we open our staff's fifth season on Ocotber 28th in Waterloo we do so with just 4 seniors, or core of juniors and sophomores and several freshmen that are going to play big varsity minutes and will need to contribute for us to be successful this year. To say we are young is an understatement, but we are going to work hard and let the chips fall where they may. We are in year 5 of a 7 year plan, and I think with the young kids we have coming up through the program and with our youth program we are on track to get to where we want to go and have sustained success for many years moving forward.
My hope is that you get a chance to see us in action and support our program in whatever way that you can.
